A lot of people have been asking about networking and how that can lead to business and booking brides and clients. So this video is about how you can network in order build your business. Hi Lara, Just love to get email & presentation from you. They are great. I just moved to Mississippi after 35 years in Michigan. No one knows me or my work. I just got my web page & so glad about that. Now I need some jobs to photograph. Just wanted you to know that your readings & videos are very inspiring & congratulations on that big wedding.

I learned that as a fundraiser-you never say the amount out loud-you write it down and pass over the piece of paper.

So true – I’m already a member of a referral group on Facebook, Through that group and referrals from other photographers I’ve booked half of my next summer’s business. Thanks for this, Lara 🙂

Great advice. That dream client may not find you otherwise ! One more question, how do you meet these other photographers?

Laura, this was amazing. It’s like listening to an old and amazing photographer friend. Loved the experience, it was incredible but at the same time, you are right, there is always that whopper of a moment in your career, the thing is to be ready to handle it. With this insight I can start to think about things that I would never think of. Thanks for all the help you’ve shared with me through email and through the web, it’s priceless and I’m actually implementing some of that advice with awesome results. Looking forward to the next video!!

Great presentation Laura! And that does sound like a dream wedding!

Reply

Lara White February 10, 2012 at 11:02 am

It absolutely was a dream wedding. It was also a TON of work. Every day we were there was some kind of shoot or meeting, so there was no time to hang out by the pool drinking beers. But the mom made up for that. These kinds of things dont happen all the time, but we do get 1-2 BIG weddings per year, and it really is an opportunity if you take it.

Great story, thank you for sharing what you do. My husband and I really enjoy your site! I would have had the exact same feelings if I got a lead like that too! 🙂

Lara White February 10, 2012 at 3:06 pm

you really just never know who you are going to meet or where they are going to lead. I did a consultation with a woman once, and I asked about her husband, and she says, oh, he’s a baseball player. I know NOTHING about baseball, and I asked if he played locally, and she says, no he plays for the colorado rockies. I was like oh, that’s nice. I didn’t realize that was even major league baseball!

Thank you so much for this informative post. You did great!
As I was watching the video I remember a photographer that I met a few days back while out on a shoot. He mentioned if I would be available to fill in for him to which I answered of course. Have to keep doors open everywhere.
